Choir Outfits
Our choir has a choir outfit for most performances. The outfit gives our group a polished look and helps us mentally transform ourselves from students and teacher to accomplished, prepared performers. Our outfit is a hunter /forest green short sleeved polo with our Fox logo on the left side with khaki pants or scooter skirt. The polo can be bought from Ms. Schulte. The pants, skirts, or skorts can be ordered online from French Toast. Gently used choir outfits will also be available in the music room. Please use the form to order your child(ren)’s outfit(s) to be ready for our performances.
To complete the choir outfit, singers should wear tan, brown, or black closed toe shoes that are not gym/tennis shoes.
Our Vision
Together we enrich lives through song.
Our Mission Statement
As Fox Hollow choir members, we will
Work together
Do our very best when rehearsing and performing
Be respectful and supportive of one another
Choir rehearsals are every Tuesday afternoon during the school year at 2:50-3:50 p.m. in the FHE gym. Singers, who do not walk home or go to Discovery Club, must be picked up by 4 p.m. When a holiday or school closure falls on a Tuesday, we will not have rehearsal.
Attendance
Choirs are musical teams. Through consistent rehearsal and performance with all choir members, we are able to meet our goals. Therefore, attendance at all choir rehearsals and performances is an expectation. Scheduling conflicts will arise; please help your child fulfill his/her commitment.
When a singer is ill and is home from school on a rehearsal or performance day, the absence from choir is excused. When a singer misses a choir rehearsal or performance because of a scheduling conflict, that absence is unexcused. Choir members may not have more than 5 unexcused absences with in a school year.
Expectations for Choir Members
- Choir rehearsals and performances are about making music together. Any behaviors that do not support making music detract from our goals. The following expectations ensure our rehearsals and performances are productive and rewarding.
- No food is allowed in the gym. Singing and eating do not work well together. Food during rehearsals leaves a mess in the gym. (Put first things first.)
- Arrive on time for rehearsals (2:50 p.m.) Rehearsals begin at 3:00 p.m. sharp. (Signing the attendance sheet, getting music, using the restroom happens before 3 p.m.)
- Choir will end at 3:50 p.m. All singers who do not walk home must be picked up by 4 p.m. Singers who are not picked up by 4 p.m., more than 3 times, will not be able to continue to participate. Singers should arrive for performances 15 minutes before concert time if a call time has not specifically been given. (Be proactive.)
- Bring your choir music/folder and a pencil to all rehearsals. (Be proactive.)
- Bring a water bottle to rehearsal; Leaving rehearsal to get drinks disrupts our work. (Be proactive.)
- When not singing, sit quietly and listen. (This is when instruction is being presented or another part working on a section of music) (Be proactive and synergize.)
- Sit up or stand up straight and tall, hold your music up so that you can look down at the music and up at the conductor without having to move your head. (Often singers leave their music on the floor; therefore, they cannot look at the music and the conductor easily. Additionally, their voices are directed to the floor rather than where the audience will be. (Be proactive and synergize.)
- Do your best. Have a positive attitude. Work together! (Be proactive and synergize. -and probably most of the other 7 habits as well.)
Being a member of the choir is a privilege. Singers whose
behavior disrupts our work will not be allowed to continue to
participate in our choir.
